How can I get my kid to cooperate and stop arguing!?

How can I get them to CALM DOWN!?

What can we do so we don’t have to walk on egg shells around them?

Do you feel like you don’t know what to do? Or simply that what you’re doing isn’t working?

There’s a TON of science about how brains work that can help you feel confident and effective in dealing with difficult behavior.

This class is based on the individual, private work I do with parents in my parent coaching practice. It includes a deep dive into the Arc of the Tantrum, and a whole lot more. There are 6 sessions, each one walking parents through a critical step in understanding–and then shaping–their child’s behavior.

Class #1

  • Understanding how an upset brain works

  • The Arc of the Tantrum

  • Recognizing Your Child’s Signals

Class #2

  • What parents CAN Control.

  • Recognizing and getting off the roller coaster of co-escalation

Class #3

  • How to have growth oriented tantrums

  • Growth vs Finish Line parenting moments

Class #4

  • How to prevent problems by predicting vulnerabilities

  • How to effectively de-escalate

Class #5

  • Flight Distance

  • Circling Back

  • A Case Study

Class #6

  • Your difficult situations, understood

  • Managing siblings

WHO: The class is for parents of kids ages around 2-10.

WHEN: Thursdays at 12:15pm CST. 6 Meetings.  Starts Feb 2, 2023.  (Feb 2, Feb 9, Feb 16, Feb 23, March 2, March 9)

WHERE:  Your favorite chair.  (Class is held on Zoom.)

COST: $210 ($35 per class.) Earlybird discount saves $20.

A note about participating live versus the recorded version…

People who attend live, and especially people who turn their camera on, get more out of the experience.  Here are four reasons:

  • You’ll feel a sense of community being with people who are going through the same things you are.
  • If you attend live, you can ask spontaneous questions.  Plus, when you ask questions, you help others, because there’s so much shared experience, and people don’t always know what to ask.
  • Silly to say, but–you’ll actually watch the class. Carving a set time out of your schedule gives the work even more significant in your mind.
  • Parents who attend live, and who turn on their video cameras, as the people I am talking to in the class.  Humans need connection and it feels better to be interacting.  :^)

That said, if you just can’t, I get it.  Life is full.  That’s why I record every class.  You can still get the content!

Your class is really helping us with navigating the flavor of issues we were having over here. I’m flexing new muscles in learning how to keep myself regulated and doing what I’ve aspired to (respond not react) in my entire 4 year parenting journey so far. The insight into how my reactions were fueling our battles has been so valuable. SO reassuring. Thanks for so many great tools.

The class was great! I received a ton of practical advice with a professional explanation. Every parenting class also helps me know that I’m not alone in my struggles. :-)

Great class!  Reinforcing the idea of a physical process the child must go through helped to make it less “personal” so to speak; the specific intervention approaches best for each part of the curve was also very helpful.

Katie’s class was informative, applicable to everyday parenting challenges, and encouraging. As parents we always want to do right by our kids but know that we don’t always have the tools. Katie did a wonderful job walking us through the principals and teaching us how to apply them while encouraging us along the way.

The handout is great, love being able to go over it multiple times, and also liked the Q & A at the end. I know this is class and not therapy but it’s really helpful to benefit from other parents – knowing we’re not alone in our struggles. We’ve been really isolated in the pandemic and it was nice to know others were having similar experiences.

I hopped in my car right after that last class and I had the impulse to call you through the car like I would a good friend and say ‘hey! You did GREAT and I really feel supported and encouraged and that was an awesome class.’  That’s a credit to how you do it and the intimacy you communicate to the individuals within the crowd. So yay!
